Installing Neuron Morpho on Mac OS 9 or earlier

What follows are a set of instructions for running ImageJ and the Neuron Morpho plugin on Apple computers using a version of the operating system earlier than OS X. I do not have access to such a computer and I have not tested the reliability of these instructions. However, they are based on the comments of a user who has successfully managed to run Neuron Morpho on his Mac.

  1. Install the latest version of MRJ (Mac OS Runtime for Java), Apple's implementation of the Java VM and runtime environment, based on Sun's JDK 1.1.3 specification. A copy of this package is at http://www.info.apple.com/support/downloads.html.

  2. Install MRJ SDK 2.2.2. I have found a copy at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/1826 but you may also want to search on google if this version is not suitable for you.

  3. The Neuron Morpho plugin uses a Java package called "swing". In order for the plugin to run you need to install the swingall.jar Java archive. You can download it from here.

  4. Install swingall.jar as follows: System Folder: Extensions: MRJ Libraries: MRJ Classes

Good Luck.
